The provincial government officially launched “MoRProGRes Iloilo” in its move to build the pillars of development for the province of Iloilo.
The launching was the highlight of the kickoff day of the 122nd Semana sang Iloilo on April 11, 2023.
MoRProGRes Iloilo or Movement for a Robust, Progressive, Globally Competitive, and Resilient Province of Iloilo is a campaign to realize the social justice agenda of the Defensor administration.
Under the lead of Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr., the provincial government will strive to increase investments and employment opportunities; attain food security; provide accessible health and social services; promote public safety, protect and manage the resources and assets of the province; and provide effective, efficient and transparent government administrative services.
Governor Defensor introduced his social justice agenda during his inauguration last June 28, 2022, to position Iloilo as an ideal investment destination by developing the fundamentals of the economy, mainly focusing on the four basic sectors such as power and energy, water, telecommunications, and infrastructure.
To jumpstart the implementation, the province’s Economic Cluster Team led by the Local Economic Development and Investment Promotions (LEDIP) Center and the Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO) conducted a series of consultations with public utilities last year to explore and introduce the province’s investment opportunities.
In his speech, Governor Defensor said MoRProGRes is a whole province approach to wheel the direction of Iloilo.
“This is not an organization; this is not an alliance. MoRProGRes Iloilo is not just the Iloilo Provincial Government. It is not just the LGUs. It is the whole province; it is all of us. It is a whole province approach for development and progress of Iloilo Province,” he said.
The event was graced by the province’s private sector partners, national government agencies, and members of the academe.
Cong. James “Jojo” Ang of Uswag Partylist, Sangguniang Panlalawigan members, department heads, chiefs of hospitals, First Lady Michelle Defensor, former Gov. Arthur Defensor, Sr., and former first lady Cosette Defensor also attended the event.
Following the launching was the unveiling of the MoRProGRes website (www.morprogresiloilo.biz) which serves as the window of the province to the rest of the country.
The website was developed by the Information Communication Technology Management Office.
