I-PORE Funded Rooftop Solar PV Systems For 3 District Hospitals

Provincial Administrator Raul Banias, representing Gov. Arthur Defensor, Jr., led the groundbreaking of rooftop solar PV systems for three district hospitals on April 10, 2024, at Ramon D. Duremdes District Hospital in Dumangas.

Banias was assisted by 4th district Board Member Rolando Distura, Provincial Government Environment and Natural Resources Office chief Atty. Cesar Emmanuelle Buyco Jr., Hospital Management Office chief Dr. Paz Calopiz, Provincial Engineer Romeo Andig, EEC focal Rey Victor Garin, among others.

The rooftop solar PV system project is funded through the Iloilo Provincial Ordinance of Renewable Energy of 2022 (I-PORE 2022).

The recipients are Ramon D. Duremdes District Hospital, Jesus M. Colmenares Memorial District Hospital in Balasan, and Dr. Ricardo Y. Ladrido Memorial Hospital in Lambunao.

Dumangas District Hospital is a recipient of 50-kilowatt solar PVs. Balasan district hospital and Lambunao district hospital received 60-kilowatt PVs.

Each district hospital received a budget for the installation of their grid-tie solar systems with aims to reduce electricity consumption and thus, lower monthly expenses.

Also present at the event are the chiefs of hospitals namely Dr. Dennise Roy Pasadilla, Chief of Hospital II (RDDH); Dr. Gene O. Baltazar, Chief of Hospital II (JCMDH); and Dr. Alicia Y. Cordero, Chief of Hospital II (DRYLMH).

The rooftop solar PV system project is implemented under Provincial Ordinance 2022-277 or An Ordinance Promoting The Development, Utilization, And Commercialization Of Renewable Energy Resources (Iloilo Provincial Ordinance For Renewable Energy – I-PORE) authored by Board Member Distura.

The implementing offices are the Hospital Management Office, the Provincial Engineer’s Office, and the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (EEC Team)
