IPG Inks MOU With Unilab Foundation On Mental Health Program

The Iloilo Provincial Government under Governor Arthur Defensor, Jr., and Unilab Foundation Inc. (ULF) represented by Operations Director Claire Papa signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), symbolizing a joint commitment to enhancing the welfare of Ilonggo families and addressing pressing issues on mental health and youth empowerment.

Under the agreement, ULF will collaborate with the Iloilo Province in designing and delivering projects focused on mental health and other special areas including supporting training programs and strengthening standards for quality mental health programming.

Meanwhile, the Iloilo Province will designate a Secretariat to work closely with ULF and assist in the planning coordination and implementation of supported projects. Additionally, the province will disseminate information and ensure maximum participation in ULF programs and activities.

The MOU anticipates several outcomes, including the full operation of the Implementing Rules and Regulations of the Local Mental Health Ordinance, the establishment of a halfway home for individuals undergoing mental health crises, and the institutionalization of province-wide suicide prevention and youth development programs.

The signing of the MOU signifies a landmark collaboration between the Iloilo Provincial Government and ULF, setting the stage for impactful interventions in mental health and youth empowerment.

Also present in the MOU signing were Unilab officials including Center Health Policy Director John Basa and Programs Director Joan Urieta.
