Iloilo Provincial EDCORE Team facilitated Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) at Barosbos Elementary School and Lantangan Elementary School in the Municipality of Carles, Iloilo on May 2-3, 2024.
The primary aim of these FGDs was to identify and address pressing issues within the local education system, particularly concerning the high prevalence of non-readers and slow readers.
Additionally, the sessions sought to gauge community efforts in supporting children’s education, evaluate the involvement of local officials in educational initiatives, and assess stakeholders’ awareness of the local school board’s (LSB) existence and functions.
These discussions were held in mainland and island barangays and involved diverse participants including students, teachers, parents, Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) officers, barangay, and municipal officials.
The FGDs provided a platform for comprehensive discussions on various aspects of the education landscape, sharing insights, concerns, and potential solutions.
These discussions form a crucial part of the data-gathering, consultation, and deliberation processes essential for the Literacy Program of the Iloilo Provincial Government.
