Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. led the distribution of a package of assistance to six rebel returnees under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) of the Department of the Interior and Local Government.
The governor was assisted by 301st Infantry Brigade Commander BGen Michael G Samson, Iloilo Provincial Police Office Bayani M Razalan, DILG Iloilo Program Manager April Mae V. Plazo, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office Chief Sarah Barayuga, and Pastor Saldivar del Rio from the civil society organization.
Five recipients came from Leon while one is from Miagao.
The package includes immediate livelihood and firearm remuneration.
The receiving units, the 82nd Infantry Battalion and 61st Infantry Battalion, also received reintegration assistance worth P63,000 and P147,000, respectively.
This reintegration program is the government’s approach towards peace and reconciliation by empowering the former rebels and giving them hope as they return to the folds of society.
