DepEd Iloilo Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Ernesto Servillon, Jr. turned over to Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. the plaques received by Iloilo for being the 2024 Western Visayas Regional Athletics Association (WVRAA) Meet Champion.
He was accompanied by DepEd VI Chief Education Supervisor Gilbert Solidum, DepEd Iloilo Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Marlon Destreza, Executive Assistant to Governor Merle Tupas, and Freda Fajardo of the Provincial School Board Secretariat and her staff.
The Iloilo team totalled 818 delegates composed of athletes, coaches, assistant coaches, chaperons, trainers, and delegation officials from the provinces of Iloilo, Passi City, and Iloilo City.
They received 488 medals and bagged first place in all four categories: elementary, secondary, demo sports, and paragames.
The trophies represent the passion, dedication, and hard work of the athletes in striving for excellence in sports. This victory is also a testament to the spirit of camaraderie fostered through sports.
The 2024 WVRAA was held on May 2 to 7 at Panaad Sports Complex, Bacolod City.
