Police Brigadier General Albert G. Magno, director of the Philippine National Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Canine (EOD/K9) Group paid a courtesy visit to Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. on May 23, 2024, to strengthen collaboration with the police and the provincial government in enhancing security measures and ensuring public safety in the province.
They discussed potential interagency cooperation and resource sharing to bolster police capabilities, particularly on issues of bomb threats, explosives and other terrorist acts.
Governor Defensor also instructed Salinas to explore the potential of allotting assistance to the SWAT team out of the disaster fund to beef up their tactical operations.
Magno was accompanied by PNP EOD K9 Advisory Group chairperson Dr. Felipe F Montealto Jr. and Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office chief Col. Cornelio Salinas (Ret.).
Salinas, who was the former director of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office, was an upperclassman of Magno at the Philippine National Police Academy.
Magno’s courtesy visit coincides with the conduct of Project A.B.K.D. (Awareness of Bombs that Kill Lives and Destroy Properties) of the PNP Regional Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Canine Unit 6 (RECU 6) on Thursday at the Casa Real de Iloilo.
The activity is in partnership with the PDRRMO and the Safety and Security Services of the Iloilo Provincial Government and was participated in by the department heads and chiefs of hospitals as well as their representatives.
