In a heartening display of medical philanthropy, 260 patients underwent crucial surgical procedures during the Free Surgical Mission held at Iloilo Provincial Hospital, Pototan, Iloilo last June 4 – 7, 2024.
This initiative, aimed at providing essential healthcare services to those in need brought together local professionals to deliver life-changing operations at no cost to the patients.
The mission featured 16 major and 244 minor surgical procedures, significantly improving the quality of life for the recipients.
Major Surgical Procedures included Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy, Open Cholecystectomy, Herniorrhaphy/Hernioplasty, Hemorrhoidectomy, and Hydrocelectomy.
Minor surgical procedures primarily consisted of Excisions of Masses and Lipomas and circumcisions.
Patients from various municipalities of the Province of Iloilo many of whom traveled long distances, expressed their heartfelt gratitude.
The Free Surgical Mission was made possible in collaboration with the Philippine Society of General Surgeons (PSGS), Philippine College of Surgeons (PCS), Philippine Society of Anesthesiologists Doctors (PSA) and Operating Room Nurses Association of the Philippines, Inc. (ORNAP) and in partnership with the World Surgical Foundation Philippines and in cooperation with MORE Power.
