Sta. Barbara Booters set a 3-peat record in the Iloilo U-15 football developmental league after beating the archrival Btac. Nuevo 3-0 in an intense championship game yesterday at the Iloilo Sports Complex.
Btac. Nuevo’s game plan to stop Sta. Barbara’s quest for grand slam miserably failed as this year’s team composition of the former was the 2023 elementary palarong pambansa champions.
“The team Barotac Nuevo lacks a system for a championship caliber game compared to Sta. Barbara”, says Tommy Escoltero, the organizer of the football D-League. “But this was the opportunity for them to shine next year as their athletes are still 13-14 years old”, added Escoltero.
The intense game locked up both teams in the early minutes but Sta. Barbara managed to score before the 1st half ended courtesy of Raymond Jamotillo via a rolling kick.
In the 46th minute, Joseph Jamotillo scored another goal.
Barotac Nuevo has no answer to the Jamotillo siblings’ attack.
Before the end of the game, Johan Lico gave another goal for Sta. Barbara that led Btac. Nuevo hopeless.
This year’s D-League result was:
Champion: Sta. Barbara
2nd Place: Btac. Nuevo
3rd Place: San Dionisio
4th Place: Oton
