As part of its commitment to enhancing infrastructure and connectivity in the Province of Iloilo, the provincial government funded the concreting of the 1.1-kilometer Madarag-Iprog Junction National Road in the municipality of San Enrique amounting to P16.7 million.
The inauguration was conducted on July 5, 2024, led by Fourth District Board Member Rolando Distura who represented Gov. Arthur Defensor, Jr., Mayor Rosario Mediatrix “Trixie” Fernandez, Provincial Engineer Romeo Andig, Uswag Partylist Jojo Ang, and Iloilo Police Provincial Office director Bayani Razalan. Mayor Luigi Gorriceta of Pavia also graced the event.
The said road network links the municipality of San Enrique to the city of Passi. It is expected to benefit 1,003 households from Iprog and Madarag and from barangays Agtabo, Dalicanan, and Gemumua-Agahon in Passi City.
Mayor Fernandez thanked Governor Defensor for the road project which she said is “one of the biggest projects” received by San Enrique from the provincial government.
The project not only promises a smoother and safer travel for residents but it also opens up opportunities for enhanced trade and easier transport of agricultural produce to the market. “This is a big milestone and support of the provincial government to the municipality,” Fernandez said.
A budget of P38 million was allotted for the project’s second phase, which covers the concreting of an additional 900-meter road connecting Iprog to the national highway.
