The Iloilo Provincial Government has secured significant financial support from the Department of Labor and Employment Region 6 (DOLE 6), aimed at alleviating poverty and creating employment opportunities for Ilonggos.
During the Capitol Flag-Raising ceremony held today, DOLE 6 Regional Director Atty. Sixto Rodriguez, along with Provincial Director Amy Judicpa, handed over a total of P14.5-M to Governor Arthur Defensor, Jr.
The funding included P9.5-M for the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program to provide short-term employment to marginalized workers, and P5-M for the implementation of the Government Internship Program (GIP) designed to offer internship opportunities to students and out-of-school youth, enabling them to gain valuable work experience in government offices.
These programs will be implemented by the PESO – Province of Iloilo.
