The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO Province Of Iloilo), in partnership with the Human Settlements Adjudication Commission (HSAC), held an information and education campaign aimed at empowering Iloilo’s senior citizens during the monthly meeting of the Senior Citizens Federated Associations of Iloilo, Inc.
The session, led by HSAC-RAB VI Chief Administrative Officer Rita Eunice Tonete, provided attendees with a deeper understanding of the agency’s roles and mandates, especially in real estate and housing-related disputes. Tonete explained that the campaign supports the government’s mandate under the General Appropriations Act, which prioritizes engagement with the elderly community.
“We want to be with our senior citizens who are still productive in nation-building and, at the same time, let them know what HSAC is,” Tonete remarked.
HSAC, a national government agency reconstituted from the Housing and Land Use Regulatory Board (HLURB) through Republic Act No. 11201, focuses on adjudicating disputes in real estate development, homeowners’ associations, and planning and zoning issues. As a quasi-judicial body, HSAC seeks to uphold the rights of Filipino citizens, with a particular emphasis on protecting and educating vulnerable groups like the elderly.
Through the partnership with PSWDO, the agency aims to enhance awareness of its services and responsibilities, empowering senior citizens to better understand their rights and make informed decisions concerning housing and real estate matters.
