Provincial Administrator Raul Banias with Badiangan Mayor Suzette Mamon and the Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO) personnel led by its head Valme Lujan warmly welcomed Mr. Dean Karlan, Founder of Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) and Chief Economist of United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and company at the Iloilo Provincial Capitol this morning.
IPA and the Iloilo Provincial Government signed a Memorandum of Understanding in February last year for the conduct of the Philippines Socioeconomic Panel Survey (PSPS).
PSPS is a twenty-year survey in rural areas of Western Visayas providing policymakers and researchers the opportunity to evaluate the impact of social innovations that improve lives.
Provincial Administrator Banias briefed Mr. Karlan about the programs and projects of Governor Arthur Defensor, Jr. concerning poverty alleviation and education reforms.
