Iloilo PDRRMO Leads Province-Wide Resilience Drive This July

In observance of National Disaster Resilience Month in July, the Iloilo Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) announced on Monday the line-up for the month-long activities to strengthen community preparedness and promote climate resilience under the MoRProGRes Iloilo development agenda.

Anchored on the themes of unity, readiness, and green governance, the celebration includes the Provincial Rescuelympics 2025 on July 17 at the Iloilo Sports Complex, featuring 43 municipal DRRM responders showcasing their emergency response skills. This will be followed by the Regional Rescuelympics on July 22–23 in Dingle, gathering top responders from across Western Visayas.

Other key activities include the Limpyo Iloilo Clean-Up Drive in Brigada Pasica on July 21, and the RED Brigade II Bloodletting Activity on July 25, in partnership with uniformed services.

Capping the monthlong activities is the Provincial DRRM and Climate Change Adaptation Skills Convergence on July 31 at Lake Alapasco, Batad, aims to promote Iloilo’s transformation into a Forest Province by 2044. It also integrates key environmental directives of Governor Arthur Defensor, Jr., such as Tanom Iloilo, Limpyo Iloilo, MoRProGRes Garden, and the Turista sa Barangay.

To boost institutional preparedness, the Barangay Kapitolyo Earthquake Drill is set on June 24, 9:00 AM, featuring dramatic high-angle rescue simulations by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and PDRRMO personnel.

Through these efforts, the Iloilo Provincial Government continues to deliver life-saving public services while empowering LGUs and communities to build a resilient and sustainable future.
