Bringing global diplomacy closer to home, H.E. Nina Padilla Cainglet, Ambassador of the Philippines to Bangladesh with concurrent jurisdiction over Sri Lanka and Maldives, paid a courtesy visit to Governor Arthur Defensor, Jr. today at the Iloilo Provincial Capitol.
A proud native of Iloilo, Ambassador Cainglet expressed her deep connection to the province and her commitment to supporting its development initiatives by building international partnerships.
During the meeting, she shared potential investment prospects between Bangladesh and the Philippines, with Iloilo positioned as a promising destination for trade, tourism, and agri-business opportunities.
Governor Defensor warmly welcomed the ambassador’s initiative and expressed readiness to collaborate in promoting the province’s competitive edge under the Fun, Foodie, Friendly Iloilo campaign.
The Ilongga envoy, who joined the Department of Foreign Affairs in 1998, has held several key diplomatic assignments including postings in Italy and engagements with ASEAN and the United Nations. Her experience in multilateral diplomacy and development cooperation makes her an asset in promoting Iloilo’s interests on the global stage.
