Graduating college students in Iloilo may soon receive added support as they prepare to enter the workforce, following a collaborative meeting led by the PESO – Province of Iloilo with ten (10) partner Higher Education Institutions (HEIs).
The meeting focused on the development of the proposed “Studiante Program”, a strategic initiative that will provide internship allowances to qualified graduating students undergoing On-the-Job Training (OJT) or internships. The goal is to help ease financial burdens while ensuring students gain practical, career-aligned experience.
Envisioned as a merit-based program, Studiante will not only incentivize internship completion but also strengthen the bridge between academic learning and employment readiness.
The Studiante Program is part of the province’s broader effort to promote inclusive youth employment and build a stronger, job-ready graduate pool that contributes meaningfully to Iloilo’s local economy.
