Iloilo Hosts 3-Day Alunsina Kabuhayan Convention And Bazaar

The Iloilo provincial government is hosting the three-day nationwide 2025 Alunsina: Kabuhayan Convention and Bazaar and Gawad Sulong from September 16 to 18 at the Iloilo Provincial Capitol grounds.

This activity celebrates the triumphs of the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) which offers employment, livelihood and business opportunities to Filipinos.

The bazaar features the products and services of the SLP beneficiaries as well as showcases the good practices of the program participants all over the country from Regions I to XIII, National Capital Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, and Negros Island Region.

The activity was inspired by Alunsina, a goddess of change and prosperity based on the Visayan mythology. Alunsina’s values are reflected by the SLP which champions economic empowerment and knowledge sharing.

An opening program was also held today at the Iloilo Provincial Capitol, with the presence of DSWD Assistant Secretary for Promotive Programs Edmon Monteverde and the DSWD Executive Committee. They were welcomed this morning by Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. during their courtesy visit.

Vice Governor Lee Ann Debuque, in her message, showed appreciation to the programs of DSWD, particularly the SLP, for its lasting impact in the lives of Filipino families.
