The Provincial Government of Iloilo, through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO Province Of Iloilo) and its Program for Resilience of Iloilo in Mind and Emotion (PRIME), in partnership with the Tawili Foundation for Social and Educational Development, Inc. (TFSED), recently conducted the PRIME Family Visioning Workshop: “Pag-giya sang Pamilya” at the Cabatuan Convention Center, Cabatuan, Iloilo.
The activity aimed to strengthen family bonds, promote positive parenting, and enhance family resilience as part of PRIME’s broader mental health and psychosocial support advocacy across the province.
The workshop began with a Holy Mass officiated by Fr. Niel Aportadera, followed be a message from Vice Mayor Patrick Anthony Tobias who emphasized that families are the cornerstone of a strong and resilient community.
Meanwhile, PSWDO Head Rani Melvi A. Cuarte highlighted the Iloilo Provincial Government’s continued commitment to empowering families under the leadership of Governor Arthur R. Defensor, Jr.
Ms. Michelle Defensor, First Lady of Iloilo Province, also shared an inspiring message, underscoring the vital role of families in nurturing children’s holistic development anchored in PRIME.
The event featured three interactive modules: “Ano ang Style Mo?”, which discussed various parenting styles; “Connect Antes Mag-Correct,” which focused on positive discipline and communication; and “5Ps: Pag-giya, Pag-respeto, Pag-baton, Pag-komunikar, kag Pag-tugyan sa Ginoo,” which encouraged parents to practice faith-based guidance and understanding in raising children.
The sessions encouraged self-reflection among parents and provided tools for fostering emotional resilience and harmony within the household.
Representatives from TFSED, Cabatuan LGU, and the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) were also present in the event.
Through the collaborative efforts of PSWDO and its partners, the workshop strengthened the province’s ongoing initiatives to build mentally healthy, faith-driven, and resilient Ilonggo families.
