Towards A Rabies Free Iloilo

Towards A Rabies-Free Iloilo

The Iloilo Provincial Government, under the leadership of a well-performing and dedicated Governor Arthur Defensor Jr., aims for a rabies-free Iloilo by 2030.

The Provincial Veterinarian’s Office headed by Dr. Darel B. Tabuada procured anti-rabies vaccines worth P8 million to vaccinate 70 per cent of the dog population in the province of Iloilo from February to April to achieve herd immunity.

Last February 1, 2024, PVO initiated the Ceremonial Vaccination Kick-off at the municipality of Maasin to officially start the three-month vaccination activity in 42 municipalities and one component city.

As of April 30, 2024, the province has reached 72 per cent of dog vaccination with the effort given by the Municipal Agriculture Offices through their dedicated Municipal Agriculturists and Livestock Technicians with their hired and volunteer dog vaccinators.
