IPG, PGENRO Conducts 2nd Session Of Energy 101 Lecture Series

The Provincial Government Environment and Natural Resources Office, together with the Department of Energy and Central Philippine University, with support from the USAID-Energy Secure Philippines (ESP), conducted the Energy 101-2: Energy Efficiency Strategies and Practices on Electricity on May 20, 2024 at the Casa Real Grand Social Hall.

The lecture series is part of the capacity-building activities being undertaken for the Ilonggos under the USAID-ESP Energy Knowledge Empowerment for Western Visayas (EKEWV) Project.

EEC Focal Rey Victor Garin gave his opening remarks and the rationale of the activity.

Engr. Caesar Rico S. Acanto, USAID ESP-EKEWV assistant project leader gave a lecture on the basics of EEC and its benefits, EEC practices, demand side management program, and guidelines on energy conserving design of buildings. Engr. Acanto is also the chairperson of the Central Philippine University Electrical Engineering Department.

Director Patrick T. Aquino of the Energy Utilization Management Bureau of the Department of Energy discussed the updates on the Implementation of RA 11285 or the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act via a pre-recorded presentation.

Engr. Miguel Trenuela from DOE Visayas gave a talk via Zoom on the Philippine Energy Labeling Program.

The closing remarks were delivered by USAID ESP-EKEWV project leader Engr. Jeriel G. Militar who is also the chairperson of the CPU Mechanical Engineering Department.

EECOs and EEC focal persons from the 42 municipalities and one component city as well as representatives from the various Iloilo Provincial Government offices including its hospitals attended the event. (EEC Team)
