On September 21, 2024, the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) held a ‘kamustahan’ with the present grantees of the Provincial Educational Assistance Program for Indigenous Peoples (IPs) and the Provincial Scholarship Program for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) at the Grand Social Hall of Casa Real de Iloilo, Iloilo Provincial Capitol.
Mr. Alain Russ Dimzon, Information Officer of the Provincial Administrator’s Office graced the event on behalf of Provincial Administrator Dr. Raul N. Banias. He emphasized the social justice agenda and mantra of Governor Arthur R. Defensor, Jr. Moreover, Mr Rani Melvi A. Cuarte, RSW, the Acting PGDH of PSWDO gave his opening remarks giving importance to the contribution of each grantee in their respective communities. While Ms Ann Rapunzel Ganzon, SWO IV/ PDAO designate also reiterated in her closing remarks that the Iloilo Provincial Government through the PSWDO is always open to cater to the needs of the grantees.
“On top of the allowances that the Iloilo Provincial Government extends to the grantees, the PSWDO facilitated this activity to monitor the status and welfare of the grantees and capacitate them with necessary knowledge, skills, and attitude in confronting the pressing concerns that they are facing nowadays as youths”, said Ms Marice Andrea S. Bedonia, SWO III/ IP Educ Assistance Program Focal.
Topics and activities on self-awareness, mental health, and psychological first aid were conducted and discussed by Mr Don F. Sasu, PDO IV and PSWDO social workers.
