The Iloilo Provincial Health Office conducted a two-day dental outreach program, Toto-ong Serbisyo Dental & Bright Smile Bright Future (BSBF), offering critical oral health services to Indigenous Peoples (IP)-Ati communities in Barangay Ubang in Pototan and Barangay Dacal in San Enrique.
Held on September 26 and 27, 2024, the initiative focused on improving dental care for children and families in these underserved areas and promoting good oral hygiene practices.
In Barangay Ubang, 29 children received fluoride varnish applications, and oral health advocacy sessions were held, including a toothbrushing demonstration for both children and mothers.
In Barangay Dacal, fluoride varnish was applied to 39 children, while oral exams were conducted for 41 children.
90 oral hygiene kits were distributed, and 18 children were recognized as “Orally Fit,” each receiving an additional hygiene kit for themselves and their mothers.
The event was supported by local healthcare workers, barangay officials, and community leaders, who played vital roles in its success.
The outreach program underscored the province’s dedication to improving oral health and providing accessible healthcare to IP-Ati communities.
