The Iloilo Provincial Government, through the Public Employment Service Office (PESO – Province of Iloilo) in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment Iloilo Field Office (DOLE-IFO), continues to bridge education and employment as another batch of forty-five Ilonggo youth graduated from the JobStart Philippines Program (JSP).
JSP is a full-cycle employment facilitation program designed to enhance the employability of young jobseekers. The program provides life skills training, technical training, and hands-on work experience, ensuring that graduates are work-ready and equipped with the right competencies.
Among the graduates was Christine Rojas, who shared how the program transformed her confidence and career outlook.
“The program helped me build confidence in myself and in my skills from day one of our life skills training. The mentors were incredibly helpful, providing guidance and encouragement every step of the way. JobStart didn’t just give me job skills, it gave me the confidence to succeed, and I’m so grateful for that,” said Rojas.
Recognizing the program’s impact, Provincial Administrator Raul Banias highlighted the Iloilo Provincial Government’s commitment to empowering young jobseekers.
“JobStart is one of the best capacitating programs to prepare our employable youth. Hopefully, you can advance your careers professionally. DOLE and PESO are always here to support you in skilling up,” assured Banias.
Meanwhile, DOLE Technical Support and Services Division (TSSD) Chief Glenn Mar Padios encouraged the graduates to apply their learnings in the real world.
“You have gained not just skills and knowledge but also friendships and memories that will stay with you forever. As you step into the next level, please stay humble, work hard, and be an inspiration to others. Your success reflects the support of everyone who has guided you along the way,” said Padios
Similarly, DOLE-IFO Head Maria Lucy Muralla reminded the graduates of three key values for professional growth.
“Always be determined. Always have respect. And most importantly, do your job well.”
In closing, PESO Chief Cynthia Dario emphasized that completing the program is just the beginning of their journey.
“As you step forward into the real world, remember that the journey does not end here. What you do next, how you apply your skills, embrace challenges, and seize opportunities, will define your path.”
Also attending the event were partner employers who have supported the program by providing training and employment opportunities to JSP graduates.
Through initiatives like JSP, the Iloilo Provincial Government continues to invest in the future of Ilonggo youth, equipping them with the skills, confidence, and opportunities to thrive in the workforce.
