The Iloilo Provincial Government, through the MoRProGRes NutriTutok Dietary Supplementation Program (DSP), delivered critical nutrition interventions to children and pregnant women in the municipalities of Estancia and Carles.
DSP aims to combat malnutrition and promote maternal and child health, particularly in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDAs).
In Estancia, the program provided growth monitoring, nutrition counseling, and dietary supplementation to children aged 0-59 months. Parents and caregivers were also educated on proper feeding practices, hygiene, and the importance of a balanced diet through Pinggang Pinoy and 10 Kumainments. Meanwhile, nutritionally at-risk pregnant women received iron-fortified rice and multivitamins to ensure healthy pregnancies and prevent low birth weight.
Similarly, in Brgy. Manlot and nearby barangays in Carles, where access to healthcare is limited, the DSP provided nutrient-dense food rations, medical check-ups, deworming, and Vitamin A and iron supplementation.
The MoRProGRes NutriTutok DSP underscores the Iloilo Provincial Government’s commitment to fighting malnutrition and improving public health across the province.
