People of Ajuy can now look forward to improved disaster preparedness and quicker emergency response with the construction of a Resilience Hub in Barangay Malayuan.
Governor Arthur “Toto” Defensor, Jr., together with Ajuy Mayor Jett Rojas, led yesterday the groundbreaking ceremony for the facility, a joint initiative of the Iloilo Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO-Iloilo) and the Ajuy Municipal DRRMO.
The hub is designed to serve as a command center during emergencies, ensuring that critical resources, rescue equipment, and trained responders are readily available to protect lives and properties in Ajuy and neighboring towns.
Governor Defensor emphasized that the establishment of the Resilience Hub is part of the provincial government’s commitment to strengthening the disaster response capabilities of local communities.
It will also serve as a training center for community-based disaster risk reduction programs, empowering residents with the knowledge and skills to protect themselves and their families during emergencies.
Mayor Rojas highlighted how the project will enhance the safety and security of Ajuy residents, reducing vulnerabilities and strengthening the town’s capacity to withstand disasters.
The new Resilience Hub reinforces the Iloilo Provincial Government’s proactive approach to disaster management, ensuring that communities in the province are better prepared to face emergencies, ultimately protecting lives and livelihoods.
