Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. joined fellow Visayas governors in a luncheon meeting with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on April 23, 2025, at the Cebu Provincial Capitol Gallery, where the initial rollout of the Department of Agriculture’s P20-per-kilo rice program in the Visayas was discussed.
President Marcos was welcomed by Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia and was joined by other local chief executives from across the Visayas, including Governors JC Rahman Nava (Guimaras), Jose Enrique Miraflores (Aklan), Edwin Ongchuan (Northern Samar), Jericho Petilla (Leyte), Manuel Sagarbarria (Negros Oriental), Jake Vincent Villa (Siquijor), Ben Evardone (Eastern Samar), Damian Mercado (Southern Leyte), Gerard Roger Espina (Biliran), and Samar Province Board Member Fe Tan Arcales.
