Iloilo PHO Trains Health Workers To Strengthen Type 1 Diabetes Services For Young Patients

The Iloilo Provincial Health Office (PHO), in partnership with Humanity & Inclusion, has launched a capacity-building training for healthcare providers to boost the province’s response to Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus (T1DM) under the Changing Diabetes in Children project.

Held in two batches, the specialized training targets physicians and nurses from Rural Health Units (RHUs) and district hospitals across the province, equipping them with essential skills in the early diagnosis and long-term management of T1DM, particularly among patients aged 0 to 25 years.

This client-centered initiative aligns with the Iloilo Provincial Government’s ongoing commitment to inclusive and accessible health services, especially for vulnerable populations.

By training frontline health workers and strengthening T1DM service delivery, the province ensures more children and young adults can access life-saving insulin, glucose monitoring devices, and continuous care closer to home.
