Iloilo Deepens Commitment To Plastic Waste Solutions Through UNDP Circularity Project

The Iloilo Provincial Government reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable development by participating in the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)’s Inception Workshop on the Plastic Circularity Project, held on April 24–25, 2025, at Ina Farmers Learning Site & Agri-Farm.

Building upon its proactive engagement earlier this year, the Iloilo Provincial Government, alongside Pototan, Passi City, Banate, and Dumangas, convened to explore innovative strategies for mitigating plastic pollution through circular economy principles.

This workshop is part of a series of initiatives under the UNDP’s Plastic Circularity Project, which aims to develop inclusive business models for plastic waste collection, institutionalize plastic waste management systems with local governments, and empower marginalized groups, promoting Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI).

Earlier, on February 18–19, 2025, the Iloilo Provincial Government joined the initial Inception Workshop in Passi City, which brought together key stakeholders to deliberate on strategies for addressing plastic pollution through circular economy principles.

By engaging in these global efforts, Iloilo not only addresses waste management challenges but also fosters a cleaner, more inclusive future for its residents.
