The Provincial School Board (PSB) has distributed a financial assistance amounting to P23,591,940 under the Special Education Fund (SEF) for the infrastructure projects of six elementary and secondary schools in the province of Iloilo.
An amount of P8.8 million was given to Fernando Arlos Elementary School in Barangay Tambaliza, Concepcion for the construction of a one unit three-classroom building.
The Sto. Niño Elementary School in the municipality of San Miguel received P3.5 million for the construction of its covered gym.
The provincial government is also funding the construction of a covered gym of Bancal National High School in Alimodian worth P3.4 million.
The Tunga Elementary School in Barangay Cabilao Grande, Carles is getting a new two-classroom building amounting to P5 million.
The Binaba-an National High School in Lambunao received funding for the purchase of a lot worth P1,597,800 million.
The PSB allotted P294,150 for the construction and improvement of the Gulayan sa Paaralan of Aglalaha Integrated School in Passi City.
The total aid also covered the P1 million financial assistance to the Boy Scout of the Philippines for the conduct of its scouting activities.
Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr., Provincial Administrator Raul Banias, and PSB Secretariat Maria Alfreda Fajardo led the distribution of checks to the beneficiaries during the flag ceremony on Monday, May 26, 2025.
After the distribution, the PSB conducted an orientation with the beneficiaries to brief them of their responsibilities on fund liquidation.
Addressing the need for quality infrastructure in public schools is a priority of Governor Defensor under his Bulig Eskwela sang Probinsya (BES Probins) program.
Through the PSB, the provincial government has also allocated millions of funds in building classrooms to respond to the problem of classroom shortage, particularly in geographically isolated and disadvantaged area (GIDA) communities. (Capitol News)
