Funds For West Visayas State University (WVSU) Research

West Visayas State University (WVSU) officials, namely, Dr. Ryan Michael F. Oducado, Director, University Research and Development Center; Ms. Ma. Theresa S. Minor, University Research Associate I; and Ms. Shennie Atesora, Cashier III received the check amounting to Php 400,000.00. intended for their institution’s research projects “Black Soldier Fly (Hermetia Illucens) Insects as Biological Agent Towards Sustainable Organic Farming” and “Establishment of MYCOLAB: Center for Mushroom Tissue Culture and Cultivation”.

Releasing the checks in behalf of Gov. Arthur Defensor, Jr. were Provincial Legal Officer Atty. Dennis T. Ventilacion, PPDO Research, Monitoring and Evaluation Division Head Engr. Jose Noel A. Cabaluna and DMO II Julius Edward C. Castracion.

The project is part of Governor Defensor’s initiative of tapping various state universities and colleges (SUCs) and higher education institutions (HEIs) in the city and province of Iloilo to advance research, development, and innovation.

The collaboration aims to leverage the expertise of the academe in various fields such as science and technology, agriculture and fisheries, and public health, among others for joint research projects and knowledge sharing to attain the social justice agenda of the Defensor administration under his development thrust MoRProGRes ILOILO or Movement for a Robust, Progressive, Globally Competitive and Resilient Province of Iloilo.
