Local bamboo artisans in the municipality of Balasan gained new livelihood opportunities after the Iloilo Provincial Government, through the Provincial Cooperatives Development Office (PCDO), rolled out a Training Course on Dyeing Methods for Bamboo Products.
Conducted in partnership with the Department of Agrarian Reform – Iloilo, the training capacitated members of the Timipal Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Cooperative with sustainable dyeing techniques, product design principles, and skills in market-oriented bamboo craft production.
The initiative forms part of the broader efforts of the Iloilo Technology and Livelihood Development Center (ITLDC) to strengthen grassroots enterprises by enhancing technical know-how and supporting innovation. It also underscores the Provincial Government’s commitment to empowering communities and promoting self-reliance through accessible and practical livelihood programs.
By focusing on the use of indigenous materials like bamboo, the program champions both environmental sustainability and economic inclusivity.
With more trainings on the horizon, the Iloilo Provincial Government continues to bring relevant services to the countryside, nurturing resilient cooperatives and enabling local producers to thrive in an evolving market landscape.
