IPG Holds Pride Forum To Advance Inclusion, Wellness

The Iloilo Provincial Government, through its IPG Pride and in collaboration with the PSWDO Province Of Iloilo, PPDO Iloilo-Gender and Development Unit GADIloilo, and Association of Iloilo Provincial Government Employees (AIPGE), hosted the “Beyond the Colors” forum on June 18, 2025, at the Iloilo Provincial Capitol.

The activity forms part of the province’s Pride Month celebration and aims to promote inclusivity, fight HIV-related stigma, and support the LGBTQIA+ community through education and engagement.

In his message, Provincial Administrator Dr. Raul Banias, speaking on behalf of Governor Arthur Defensor Jr., emphasized the province’s commitment to diversity and equality.

He likened Iloilo’s diversity to a bowl of batchoy, saying every ingredient adds flavor and value, just as every person contributes to the province’s strength.

“In Iloilo, we believe in the power of diversity. It’s like a batchoy – it’s the mix of all those wonderful ingredients that makes it so incredibly delicious! Recognizing and respecting diversity isn’t just a nice thing to do; it’s essential for our growth, our harmony, and frankly, for making life a whole lot more fun. It means understanding that everyone has their own unique flavor, and we should savor each one,” said Banias.

The program featured two panel discussions: one on understanding SOGIE-SC and respecting gender diversity, and another on building safe, inclusive workspaces with CHR Region VI Head Christopher Montaño.

Health and wellness topics were also tackled by the Family Planning Organization of the Philippines, ensuring a holistic approach to inclusion.

By holding such forums, the provincial government underscores that inclusive policies and safe spaces are not just aspirations.

As Administrator Banias proudly declared, “Here in Iloilo, we’re not just talking the talk—we’re walking the rainbow walk.”
