Five young Ilonggos ended their volunteer work at the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO Province Of Iloilo) today after months of service under the Volunteer Opportunity for Iloilo Community Engagements (VOICE) program.
The volunteers, accompanied by PSWDO Officer-in-Charge Rani Cuarte and VOICE focal Don Sasu, paid a courtesy visit to Provincial Administrator Raul Banias to mark their last day.
The group includes two registered social workers, one social work graduate preparing for the board exam, a licensed psychometrician, and a senior high school student who is deaf. They were deployed to different units of the PSWDO, including the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) division, PRIME program, and the Technical Division.
Their volunteer work, which began in February, provided them with practical training, improved communication skills, and mentorship from social workers. The experience is expected to enhance their credentials as they seek employment in the future.
