Paying Tribute To Ilonggo Domination

Exactly a month after the 127th Independence Day celebration in Manila, the Iloilo provincial government, in partnership with the Iloilo Festivals Foundation, Inc. (IFFI), held a homecoming parade for the contingents from the province and city of Iloilo that won prestigious awards in the recently-concluded Parada ng Kalayaan 2025 in Metro Manila.

The parade commenced at the Iloilo Provincial Capitol and ended at the Iloilo Freedom Grandstand where the contingents showcased their colorful performance.

Representing the province of Iloilo are the Tultugan Festival of Maasin which took the championship crown in the Festival Performance Competition and the Cry of Santa Barbata Float which bagged second place in the Historical Float Competition.

Tribu Pan-ay of Iloilo City’s Dinagyang Festival won first runner-up.

The tribute also included Tribu Paghidaet which showcased the Dinagyang Festival at the World Expo 2025 in Japan.

These contingents received commendation from the Sangguniang Panlalawigan ng Iloilo and the Iloilo City Council for bringing Iloilo’s deep cultural tradition not just nationwide but internationally.

Present during the event are Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr., Vice Gov. Lee Ann Debuque, Mayor Francis Amboy, Iloilo Festivals Foundation Inc. officials, and City Councilor Nene dela Llana.

Two days ago, Governor Defensor, Mayor Raisa Treñas, Mayor Amboy, and Santa Barbara Mayor Dennis Superficial received the prestigious Parada ng Kalayaan awards of the city and province of Iloilo from Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza-Araneta Marcos at the Kalayaan Hall in Malacañang.
