Corn farmers in Iloilo can expect improved access to government support following the recent Municipal Corn Coordinators’ Meeting

The meeting, organized by the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office VI and the Iloilo Provincial Agriculture Office, brought together 38 Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs) from various towns to discuss key updates and strategies for enhancing corn production in the province.

Discussions focused on clustering farmer associations to maximize machinery use, improve seed and fertilizer access, and consolidate harvests for better market opportunities. The importance of proper documentation and effective information dissemination was also highlighted to boost engagement in the agriculture sector.

A soil fertility report from the Regional Soils Laboratory provided data to guide future interventions.

The meeting emphasized stronger collaboration among AEWs, local government units, and the DA to better serve the needs of corn farmers across Iloilo.
