Brgy. Tanghawan, Dingle Gets P3.2M Covered Gym

“Gov, handum gid ka taga Tanghawan nga mabutangan kami sang covered gym. Nagtupa gid. Salamat gid Gov.”

Punong Barangay Gil P. Bignayan of Barangay Tanghawan in the municipality of Dingle expressed his heartfelt appreciation to Gov. Toto Defensor for the newly-constructed covered gym which is a long-awaited infrastructure project in their barangay.

The P3.2 million facility was funded by the Iloilo provincial government which will benefit the 579 residents in Tanghawan.  It will serve as a multi-purpose venue for sports events and community gatherings. It was also designed as an evacuation area during disasters and health emergencies.

“Wala gid ako napaslawan kay Gov. Salamat gid sa tanan-tanan nga bulig mo sa amon barangay,” Bignayan further told the governor during the inauguration ceremony on August 1, 2025.

Governor Defensor likewise thanked the village officials for taking care of the facility which inspires the provincial government to pour in more projects to the barangay.

“Salamat gid kay ginpatigayon ninyo ini nga proyekto nga mapuslan sang aton mga kasimanwa. Next project naman kita,” Defensor said.

The event was also attended by Dingle Vice Mayor Quindialem Villanueva, the Sangguniang Bayan Members, several barangay captains, and barangay officials of Tanghawan.

Meanwhile, the provincial government also funded the concreting of the 1.3-kilometer Tanghawan-Siniba-an Provincial Road amounting to P30 million. Its construction is already underway.

Governor Defensor said the provincial government is maximizing its fund in supporting the infrastructure needs of barangays, particularly on classrooms, covered gyms, and evacuation centers. (Capitol News)
