Thirty-four seaweed farmers in Barangay Talingting are now better equipped to improve product quality and income after receiving seaweed drying implements from the Iloilo Provincial Government.
Through the Iloilo Provincial Agriculture Office’s “Improvement of Seaweed Industry” project, farmers received 340 rolls of PE rope, 68 rolls of BNet, 850 bamboo poles, and 3,060 polypropylene woven sacks essential for faster and more efficient seaweed drying.
By reducing spoilage and preserving quality even during erratic weather, these postharvest inputs will help farmers meet market demands, secure better prices, and increase productivity.
The initiative forms part of the Seaweed PAFES program under MoRProGRes Iloilo, aimed at strengthening value chains and promoting inclusive agri-fishery growth in the province.
