A Celebration Of Cultural Excellence And Ilonggo Pride

The two-day Kasadyahan sa Kabanwahanan Festival Research and Production Summit concluded with a celebration of cultural excellence and Ilonggo pride during the Dinner Show Repertoire on September 7, 2025 at the Iloilo Provincial Capitol Lobby.

The show featured performances from the different municipalities – bringing to the stage their unique festival tradition and highlighting their distinct cultural identity through folk music and ethnic dance – reflecting Iloilo’s tourism slogan “Fun, Foodie, Friendly Iloilo.”

The Sing Philippines Youth Choir managed by the Cultural Center of the Philippines also gave a soulful performance, treating Ilonggos to a night of choral excellence.

Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. emphasized that the summit aims to develop the local festivals in the province for them to showcase a world-class performance while retaining the authenticity of Ilonggo culture and tradition.

“We want Kasadyahan sa Kabanwahanan to be the cultural stage of the province. We will develop our festivals starting from the barangay level. Because every festival is different. Every festival is unique,” Defensor said.

The governor also issued a challenge to the municipalities to invest in improving their festivals and putting them into the core of the province’s tourism industry.
