Laying out plans and activities for the remainder of the year, the Provincial Task Force on Road Safety (PTFRS) convened for an Inter-Agency Meeting and Reconstitution of the Task Force. The reorganization follows the start of a new term of elected officials and the inclusion of the Regional Anti-Crime and Corruption Group Inc. (RACCGI) as a civil society representative to the PTFRS.
PTFRS Vice Chairperson and Iloilo Vice Governor Nathalie Ann F. Debuque presided over the meeting, together with PDRRMO Head PCOL Cornelio Salinas (Ret.) and PPDO focal persons EnP. Jigger Labergue and Planning Officer Carr Brian Griño. They presented updates and accomplishments from the past semester, which included the conduct of road safety education and awareness activities with free theoretical driving courses for high school students, participation in the Link4All Project, the formulation of the Western Visayas Road Safety Action Plan, joint enforcement activities with the LTO, among others.
Members then shared inputs on strategies to be pursued under the Enforcement and Engineering strategies of the Task Force, which are targeted for implementation before the year ends. The meeting was actively attended by representatives from national government agencies including BFP, CHED, DepEd, DILG, DOH, DPWH, HPG, IPPO, LTO, and LTFRB, as well as provincial government offices such as the PDRRMO, PPDO, PHO, Provincial Legal Office, and PEO.
The PPDO serves as the secretariat of the PTFRS and facilitates the collaborative implementation of road safety programs in the province.
