The Iloilo Provincial Government strengthened its partnership with the Philippine National Police Regional Maritime Unit in safeguarding the province’s vast coastal resources.
Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. welcomed Regional Maritime Unit VI officer-in-charge Police Lieutenant Colonel Alvin A Gumacal during his courtesy visit earlier this morning.
Gumacal was joined by Iloilo MARPSTA Station Chief Police Major Janvier A Gilza, and PEMS Philip Sanagustin and Pat Joniel Lauz.
They presented to the governor a maritime police clock as token.
Defensor committed to capacitate the maritime police by boosting their floating assets.
He also appealed to Gumacal to strictly enforce maritime laws in regulating illegal fishing and preserving the Visayan Sea.
