Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. led the inauguration of various infrastructure projects at Barangay Nalbugan in the municipality of Calinog which have significantly improved the daily lives of residents, particularly their safety and mobility.
The governor was joined by Mayor Francisco Calvo, Board Member Mark Palabrica, the Sanguniang Bayan led by Vice Mayor Andrew Castaños, Barangay Captain Ronie Bulandra, and other barangay officials during the inauguration ceremony on September 29, 2025 at Nalbugan Covered Gym.
The projects funded by the provincial government include the concreting of a 3-kilometer provincial road worth P21 million and solar streetlights amounting to P1.750 million.
The residents expressed their gratitude to the governor for the solar streetlights project, noting that the previously dark and hazardous areas are now safe for walking.
The newly-concreted road has also improved the accessibility and transportation within the community. Barangay Nalbugan is a 7-kilometer drive from the town proper. It serves as the boundary of the municipalities of Calinog and Bingawan.
Governor Defensor also led the inauguration of the barangay covered gym worth P3.5 million which is a project of Rep. Lorenz Defensor.
Defensor noted the significant improvement in Nalbugan since he last visited the barangay. He emphasized the province’s continuing commitment to promoting grassroots development through sustainable infrastructure projects. He particularly assured to address the barangay’s pressing need for a water source.
“Lain na gid ang Nalbugan halin sang una nga naghapit ako diri. Pero kulang pa ina. Gusto naton tagaan sang mayo nga solusyon ang inyo problema sa tubig,” Defensor said.
Bulandra also thanked the governor for the other projects given by the provincial government such as the construction of their Barangay Hall worth P1 million and their Tanod Outpost costing P300,000. The provincial government has also given the barangay air conditioning units, session table, computer, CCTV, tables, chairs, and television.
