Thirty-six employees from various offices of the Iloilo Provincial Government participated in the Gender Sensitivity Training (Batch 1) conducted by GAD Iloilo held on October 29, 2025, at Sotogrande Hotel, Iloilo City.
The training aimed to strengthen the employees’ understanding of basic Gender and Development (GAD) concepts and promote a workplace culture anchored on equality, respect, and inclusivity.
Mr. Jessie Castigador of the Office of the Human Resource Management and Development (OHRMD) discussed the basic GAD concepts, including sex, gender, and gender roles. Mr. Jay Eric Suganob tackled Gender Issues, while Ms. Mariel Fleur Loredo expounded on the GAD and Safe Spaces Act, emphasizing the protection of every individual from gender-based harassment and discrimination.
The activity forms part of the Provincial Government’s continuing effort to mainstream gender and development in governance. By enhancing the gender awareness of employees, the province ensures that government services are delivered in a fair, inclusive, and gender-responsive manner.
Participants expressed that the training helped them better understand how gender awareness contributes to improved public service. The learnings are expected to translate into more respectful, equitable, and client-sensitive interactions with the people they serve.
