Beneficiaries of the Provincial Internship Program (PIP) and the Short-Term Employment Program (STEP) paid a courtesy visit to Provincial Administrator Raul Banias to personally express their gratitude for the work opportunities extended to them by the Iloilo Provincial Government through the PESO – Province of Iloilo.
Each beneficiary receives a monthly allowance of ₱11,286, enabling them to support their families while gaining valuable work experience.
STEP beneficiary John Daxen Occeno shared that the program not only enhanced their knowledge and skills but also taught them financial discipline.
“It is a great feeling being able to help pay bills at home. This opportunity allowed us to be responsible,” he said.
Banias commended the beneficiaries, emphasizing that the programs reflect the province’s continuing investment in human capital.
“One of the outcomes of these programs is to mainstream you into employment and build up a middle class. We are thankful for this opportunity and we hope to see you in the workplace,” he said.
The beneficiaries were accompanied by PESO Chief Cynthia Dario and focal persons for STEP and PIP.
The PIP and STEP aim to provide youth with employment opportunities and practical work experience in local government offices. Some beneficiaries have already been absorbed into full-time employment, reflecting the programs’ success in preparing young Ilonggos for the world of work.
