Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. called for a blended meeting with the members of the Provincial Community Defense Action Cluster to discuss the provincial government’s disaster preparedness measures amid the impending entry of Severe Tropical Storm Fung-Wong (local name Uwan) into the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
Defensor emphasized the importance of a proactive action, particularly giving special attention to those in vulnerable areas such as coastal barangays and mountainous regions that are prone to storm surge and landslides.
The governor stressed the need to execute pre-emptive evacuation ahead of the typhoon’s entry.
Based on the forecast of PAGASA, Uwan is possible to make a landfall over Northern Luzon by Sunday evening or early morning of Monday.
