The Technical Working Group (TWG) for the Purok Resilience Program (PRP) conducted a site validation in Oton, Iloilo, following the municipality’s expression of intent to participate in the program.
Oton has long been identified as a flood-prone area, particularly in communities located along the Batiano River, including Barangays Alegre, Poblacion North, San Antonio, and San Nicolas.
As part of the activity, the TWG held an orientation with municipal officials and functionaries to discuss the objectives, components, and implementation arrangements of the Purok Resilience Program.
In his message, Mayor Sofronio L. Fusin welcomed the initiative and expressed optimism that Oton would meet the criteria to become one of the next recipient of the Disaster Risk Reduction–Climate Change Adaptation (DRR-CCA) housing program.
