Iloilo Celebrates Near-Total Win Against Illegal Drugs

The Iloilo provincial government is capping the year with its successful fight against illegal drugs, achieving a 99.94 percent drug-cleared status across its barangays.

Of the 1,721 barangays in the province, only one remains affected by illegal drugs, according to the report of PDEA Iloilo Provincial Officer Nicolas Gomez during the Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council (PADAC) 4th Quarter Meeting today at Sotogrande Hotel.

This milestone reflects the sustained efforts of the provincial government, the law enforcement agencies, and the anti-drug abuse councils in the barangays and the 43 local government units towards making Iloilo drug-free.

To celebrate this feat, the Iloilo provincial government, through the PADAC, recognized the municipal and city anti-drug abuse councils for their relentless campaign in eradicating illegal drugs in the province through the Search for the Best Performing Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Council (MADAC)/ City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (CADAC) in the Province of Iloilo.

This initiative is anchored on Provincial Ordinance No. 2021-260 authored by Board Member June Mondejar who is the SP Chairperson for the Committee on Public Order and Security.

In fact, this program earned recognition from the Department of the Interior and Local Government VI’s 2025 Excellence in Local Governance Awards.

The Search for the Best Performing Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Council (MADAC)/ City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (CADAC) in the Province of Iloilo bagged the Excellence in Safety, Peace and Order awards.

The provincial government extends its gratitude to all its partners as well as the community for their contribution in achieving a safe, healthy and progressive Iloilo.
