Iloilo Distributes More Than P200M Aid To Schools, LGUs, And Uniformed Personnel

The Iloilo Provincial Government distributed a total of P212.940 million financial aid to public schools, local government units (LGUs) and uniformed personnel across the province for their various initiatives on education, agriculture, disaster resilience, and public safety.

Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. turned over the checks to the beneficiaries during the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) Special Meeting today, December 23, 2025 at Hotel del Rio, Iloilo City.

A big chunk of the assistance went to programs and projects intended for education amounting to P125.320 million.

Provincial School Board secretary Maria Freda Fajardo said the support is intended to help address classroom gaps and strengthen learning environments in schools where the need is greatest.

“Governor Defensor underscores the importance of this initiative, noting that investing in quality classrooms is investing in the quality of education itself,” said Fajardo.

The assistance include the following:

• P125.320 million – given to schools and municipalities for various programs and projects on education
• P58.320 million – for disaster risk reduction and adaptation initiatives of LGUs
• P6 million – given to LGUs for agriculture projects
• P15.3 million – for the Iloilo Police Provincial Office Defense Center and Operational Expenses
• P1 million – for the procurement of goods for the CAFGU Active Auxiliary
• P4 million – for the establishment of the 6th Regional Community Defense Group
• P3 million – for the provision of vehicle to the 6th Regional Community Defense Group, RESCOM Philippine Army

These financial aid aims to bolster public school infrastructure, strengthen the agriculture sector, support community defense project initiatives in the municipalities, and enhance the capabilities of law enforcement and security forces in maintaining peace and order in Iloilo.

The provincial government also held a ceremonial turnover of service vehicle to the Iloilo Police Provincial Office and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
