Renowned economist Dr. Bernardo Villegas met with Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. today to discuss the Iloilo economic outlook and prospects for sustained growth in the province.
Villegas shared insights on national economic trends, investment opportunities, and key sectors that could further drive Iloilo’s development. The meeting also touched on strategies to enhance competitiveness, attract more investors, and create quality jobs for Ilonggos.
Villegas is a professor at the University of Asia and the Pacific and is widely recognized for his work in development economics and public policy. He has served as an adviser to government and private institutions and has been involved in shaping economic reform initiatives in the country.
Dr. Villegas was also one of the members of the 1986 Constitutional Commission that drafted the 1987 Philippine Constitution after the EDSA People Power Revolution.
